Managing a large project is quite a challenge, a lot can be learned by cooperating with a large group of people. To work together towards a common goal is one of the most fun things to do in life. Therefore I love the challenge this studyproject poses. This is probably the way more and more projects will be managed, everybody doing a small piece of the work. The common goal on this project is organizing a fun, meaningful and technically in-depth studytour to China. To see how this country is expanding and get to know a new culture is what makes this project worthwhile. I am glad I can be a part of the management of this studytour and be able to connect people across borders. That we may learn a lot of this project and studytour, have loads of fun and interesting companies to visit.

About half a year ago I was asked to take the lead over this study project together with two others, it did not take me long to make that decision. A study tour in general is an incredible way to get to see the world and meet new cultures. A study tour in project form also offers great opportunity for personal development. Amongst other working together with the others in your group is very important as is working together with the other groups within the project. China is, at this moment, one of the most interesting places in the world of technology in general and electrical engineering in particular. The immense cultural differences between China and the Netherlands make this whole project even more interesting.

In this globalised world everything and everyone gets more connected everyday. A study tour is an excellent way to understand this world and its people a bit better. China, being in the spotlights almost every day, is thus an excellent destination for a tour like this. Connected by mutual interest in technology, a group of students will take part in not only this tour, but in a complete project to research the electrical engineering, culture and nature of China, with a focus on the engineering. Because of the way this tour is organized it is not just another tour: by working together like this, lots of extra skills will be acquired and the connection of the participants with the project will be better. I can not let this opportunity pass me by!

With a background in Mechanical Engineering, I have a slight knowledge of companies in electronics which I would like to increase. And it is always interesting to see other companies, for sure in a country with a culture like that of China. Therefore, when I heard of Scintilla's Studyproject I was directly interested. Since the economy of China is increasing rapidly and there is a large difference in culture, this seems to be a good possibility to discover it.

China is a fascinating country. Every day, this country produces news that is important for the rest of the world. The Chinese society and culture are completely different from the Dutch and where else than in China can you experience this better. Also China is making big leaps forward toward the Western countries on economic and technological areas. I think that, in the future China will become much more important to us at technological level. Not only as a country that produces products for the Western world but also as a country where new products will be developed. China will develop itself from “Made in China” to “Created in China”. Therefore, I think it’s important to get in touch with this country and discover, experience and understand how the Chinese people live and how their culture works.

When I came into contact with the study tour commission in my first year, I already knew that I would like it to go on a study tour once during my study years. Now that I have gotten the opportunity to go to China, I am excited to go. It is interesting to get an insight into the Chinese culture, economy and technology, which seems quite different from ours. Another interesting part of this project is the contribution and participation of each participant of the study tour. I am excited to enjoy this unique combination of foreign culture, companies and organizing a study tour together.

After having heard about the previous study tours I was really enthusiastic about going on a trip myself, and this study tour also happens to go to one of my must-see countries, China. I have always wanted to visit this country, mostly because of its rich culture and history. However, recent developments in technology have also made this country very interesting for me as an electrical engineer. That is why I look forward to visiting China and experiencing this amazing journey.

From the moment rumors about a study tour to China were going round, I really wanted to be part of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Not only because China is a real interesting country, where technology and economy are boosted into the 21st century, but also because the trip is set up as a project. Every participant does his share of the full workload, making this truly a 'one for all and all for one' kind of thing. In the end, it is just awesome to not only experience a new culture, but to do this in the knowledge that you yourself added to the succeeding of it all.

The study tour to China was the conversation of the day from the moment that the study association advertised for it. Visiting Asia is my number one thing on the to-do list since I made a trip trough the United States. A few weeks later I became really enthusiastic at the information meeting. The presented plan was to work together as a team to organize our own awesome study tour. The tour has yet to start, but I already enjoy working on it. China is a great destination In this time of globalization. Meeting other cultures and thoughts is a key aspect in this. The best way to do so is to visit it with a diverse study tour like this one. China is still far away for me, but getting in touch with it's culture, companies and universities makes it possible to move my own borders. The unique mix in both the tour and the organization is something I wouldn't miss.

With her fast-growing economy and immense population, China is one of the world's potential superpowers. Also the cultural and political differences with Western-Europe are significant. That's why visiting the country and getting acquainted with the mindset and habits of the Chinese people seems like a great experience to me. It will be a valuable supplement of my education to gain insight in their manners of practicing science and technology, engineering and production. Besides, I can't wait to enjoy the Chinese cuisine, the architecture and the scenery. Especially because all participants contribute to this project, I expect to find both the preparation as the journey very instructive and enjoying!

When it came to my attention that the study project was going to China I didn't had to think twice. I worked as a cook in the kitchen of a Chinese restaurant for several years and met a lot of people and got a taste of their culture. Since then I had the desire to visit China myself and experience the culture first hand. The quickly developing industry and economy of China makes the country even more attractive as a destination. Furthermore the organization of the project is very challenging. We need to organize all different aspect of the travel which is a great experience on itself.

I love traveling and seeing new places. When I heard of a study project going to China, I was immediately enthusiastic about it. First of all, I have heard many good stories about Scintilla’s previous study projects. Second, China has always been in my top three of countries I want to visit. The way the study project is organized makes it even more interesting. The fact that all the participants organize the tour together is not only very instructive but also yields the possibility for everyone to bring in their ideas about how to make the trip even better.

While I was on the Saxion school for my bachelor's degree I heard from friends studying on the university that they were organising a study trip. When they came back they had the most wonderful stories and I really felt I should do this once myself. Now the opportunity is there for me and I want to make the best of it. Although I have been an electrical engineering student for quite some time now, I never did much with Scintilla. I also believe this study trip is a good way to get acquainted with that as well. I definitely think we'll make one great trip out of it and the experience will be legendary for all of us.

The possibility to join the studyproject to China is a great opportunity for me to acquire international knowledge. I have no experience abroad, but heard many positive experiences of fellow students about studying abroad. Therefore I decided to join the studyproject to get some international experiences. Perhaps I will even decide to go abroad for an internship!

In my first week at the university I learned about the existence of study projects. These projects are a nice way to discover a new country and a new culture together with other students. The perfect time to join a study project for me would be during or after my last year of my bachelor. Because now I have acquired enough knowledge about electrical engineering so that visiting companies will be interesting and I can understand fully what they are working on. When I heard the destination was China I applied immediately. China is in my opinion a very special country. They have a fast growing economy and china is also known for their big population. Also they have a very different culture than we have in Holland. I'm very eager to learn about it. Because all of the above I'm really looking forward to discover this country.

After hearing many stories about how previous study tours went and how interesting and informative they have been I immediately wanted to join one of them, and this study tour comes at exactly the right moment in my studies. China seems to me an awesome country to visit with a very interesting culture, especially the difference in culture between the rural and the urban parts of China seems tremendously interesting to see with my own eyes. That this study tour is organized as a study project also is a reason why I join, by helping to organize this tour I hope to learn a lot about organizing big projects

Many times before, I have heard from older students that joining in on a study trip is amazing. To me it looks like a project I would very much like to experience. When I heard there was a new trip being planned I was full of enthusiasm and even without knowing where the trip was going to I was planning to sign up. Being a third years student now, this looks like a perfect opportunity to join this trip. The idea of joining a study project instead of a regular study trip is ideal to get more involvement with the whole trip and everything that has to be organized around it. The land and the culture of China are, as I see it, way different from the things we're accustomed to. Therefore a trip to China looks to me like an amazing experience.

As soon as I read that Scintilla was organizing a study tour to China, I was immediately interested. I will not skip this possibility, because of China’s beautiful culture and their increasing technologies. The study tour is for me the opportunity to get familiar with this fascinating country. I hope that I will learn a lot within the organization of this study tour, since it is a study project where everyone assists in making this trip possible. Together with the other students, I am intending to make a fantastic trip and particularly to have a lot of fun!

Everyone who has the chance to organize a study tour should take it. I took this great opportunity with both hands. I am very excited to experience a fast growing country as China, where production and research are side by side. Especially in a world where countries are getting more and more interconnected. Furthermore I am curious to see the rich cultural heritage. I am also pleased about the organization of this project itself. Everyone organizes a part of the study tour and thus you will learn a lot more compared to the classical approach.

A studyproject to China is a good opportunity to see the current status of the Chinese Electrical Engineering Sector. China is still known as mainly a production country of technological products. Therefore I am interested in the production side as well as the development side of China. I hope that this study project gives me new insights on the role of Electrical Engineering in the expanding economy of China. By organizing this project with the entire group a lot can be learned from this too.

Where does one buy electronics nowadays? ... Every person who buys electrical components for hobby electronics knows that China is the best place to purchase them. The reason for this is of course the growing economical position of China. Big electronics companies decided to move their factories from the west to China in the last decade which results in a vast amount of interesting electronics companies in the country. These companies are worth paying a visit to as enrichment for the study electrical engineering. Moreover China has a rich cultural history which will be explored during the trip. All in all, there is enough reason to join a terrific study trip to China.

Picking up a great project together, working towards a fun, educational and paradigm changing goal. Who wouldn’t want to participate in this? Of course it takes a lot of time and effort to get everything rolling, but is will absolutely be with it. For me personally there are a lot of chances to grow during this project, working with new people on cases for instance, and of course the chance to see a part of China!

For my bachelor internship I would have liked to go abroad, but that never came round. The study trip is I think a concentrated surrogate for this; visit many companies, see a lot and do a lot in a short time. In China technology and social development are very quick and also the whole culture seems interesting to experience. I hope to be graduated by 2013 and I probably never get this change again.

I have been told about study trips ever since I started studying at the University of Twente and I certainly wanted to experience at least one. This one is the first possibility for me to go on a study trip and I'm sure it will be a very nice trip. In my opinion China is a very interesting and beautiful country that I certainly want to learn more about. China is becoming more and more important in the world and that is also a reason to learn more about it. I hope to learn more about China and the way companies work there.
